I found the book very good in describing what you need to look for and do. I liked the receipes..simple and things I would normally buy.

I’ve tried 4 recipes so far and my whole family loved the all. They are very easy to make taking only about 30 minutes. I can’t wait to try more recipes!

There’s a lot of good information here. As a teacher of twenty-five years, and as a parent, I’ve dealt with more than my share of overweight kids, and read everything that comes along on the subject. And although this book is one of the better ones out there, I’ve been recommending the CD talk “The Fat Kid’s Diet: Stop Childhood Obesity In Your Home,” available here at Amazon, to the parents who come to me with their concerns. It’s brief, sensible, and right to the point.

I am a single mom and I work 40 hours a week. But, rather than relying on fast food or processed freezer meals I prefer cooking “real” ingredients. This book is a great resource for busy famiies and despite some of the reviews concerned over the use of short cuts (I think the main complaint was over a recipe with cheeze whiz) I have found these to be mostly really heatlhy meal ideas and it’s easy to subsititute if you want to make them even more healthy. For example, I use a whole grain baking mix and stir in some shredded kale for the taco balls (my son LOVES these in his lunch box, too) or I used brown rice instead of white rice in other recipes. And, the recipes are easy enough that my three-year old often helps me make dinner. I love this book — I keep it on my kitchen counter with all the “successes” ear-marked. I recommend it highly.

I have quite a few cookbooks stacked up in my cupboard, and I try searching for new recipes in magazines and online often. I’m lucky to have a few recipes I actually make from each book. Every once in a great while I come across something that is a new hit with my husband and toddler and myself enough to add to the rotation of foods we normally eat. This book is seriously the most practical cookbook of easy, NUTRITIOUS, and kid/adult friendly meals I’ve ever seen or owned. Right off the bat I dog-earred over 20 recipes that, just based on the ingredients alone I KNEW that we would enjoy, almost all of which we already had stocked in the house with the exception of picking up a few things here and there at the store. I’ve made six dishes so far over the course of the three weeks I’ve owned it and so far six out of six were a delicious hit for the entire family! I can’t wait to try more. The fact that so many of the recipes include almost something from every food group and is written by three leading child nutrition experts makes the fact that they taste great and are actually things my toddler will eat even better. Just added a little here and there as I was cooking to jazz up a few things, but it was WELL WORTH the buy. I’m recommending it to all my mom friends.
