We are talking about easy dessert recipes and please don't read this article on desert recipes expecting to get ideas for sweet after dinner treats. No it's not a healthy after dinner riposte either. Please don't be confused. A cake can be a dessert a hot place where it doesn't rain much is a desert. Read on to learn tips about cooking in the hot desert.

Continuing to talk about desserts it is clear that there can't be a discussion of desert recipes without mentioning the most important cooking tool in the desert. That element is the sun. A typical desert day can be as hot as the hundred 150° or more, which tells us what a great source of heat the sun truly is. That heat can be used in the place of an oven, microwave or other modern cooking appliances.

There are expensive solar cookers as well as homemade ones.  The temperature in such cookers can reach near 300F, which is fine for cooking almost anything that can be found in desert recipes, yes there is a great deal to desserts ! Everything from eggs stakes can be cooked on this.  Don't forget two things, however.  This is slow cooking. It's an all-day affair.  Plus the solar cooker will likely have to be realigned throughout the day as the sun moves. And when the sun isn't shining, on a cloudy day or at night, a solar cooker is no good.

Solar cooking has some unique advantages too.  When food is cooked slowly it retains moisture.  There is also a lot of leeway as far as burning food because it's cooking so slow.  Have your doubts? Try rice on the stove for an extra minute. Another advantage of solar cooking is that it's a process. Waiting longer for food to cook, doing more while it cooks, adds to the anticipation.  Anticipation can make the meal taste better when it's finally time to eat. Don't let people tell you solar cookers don't brown foods. They do.

Is it time for the desert recipes? Try desert spaghetti squash with sausage, spaghetti sauce and Parmesan cheese.  Another possibility is a delicious Chile casserole. That's not Chile with meat and beans, that's hot Pablano Chiles, by the way  These and others can be found with a quick Google search.
